Parkdale is on the upward swing
As the westward creep of gentrification of Toronto continues, Parkdale is on the upward swing again. Originally one of Toronto’s wealthiest neighbourhoods, comprising large Victorian mansions with desirable view of Lake Ontario, it declined in popularity in the 1950s after construction of the Gardiner Expressway cut its link with the Lake. Many homes fell into disrepair and were divided up into rooming houses.
But now with an influx of young urban professionals looking for places to live within a short transit ride of downtown, it has become a vibrant and diverse community of wide pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, eclectic stores and restaurants.
Sandwiched between Roncesvalles and Liberty Villages, the community offers both a wide range of properties for sale and for rent.
