The new hot neighbourhood in Toronto
The new hot neighbourhood in Toronto has got to be Yonge & Eglinton. It combines a growing city buzz due to its proximity to downtown and excellent transit with attractive low rise residential streets. Its residents are urban professionals and families who value healthy lifestyles and a strong community spirit.
The new Crosstown LRT (below ground in this neighbourhood), currently under construction, is clearly transforming this neighbourhood. Connecting to the Yonge subway line, at Eglinton, this intersection is predicted to be Toronto’s next ‘hub,’ much as Yonge & Bloor is now. New developments are springing up along both Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenues, to answer growing demand for homes in the area. This is one of the best neighbourhoods for those who prefer to use public transit for their commute.
And yet just a block away from Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue you’ll find quiet, leafy streets and large parks, like Sherwood Park, connecting to Toronto’s extensive networks of hiking trails, bike paths, and urban forest.
The Appletree Uptown Farmer’s Market is held every Thursday during the summer at the corner of Yonge & Montgomery Avenue. Some of the city’s best restaurants, independently owned stores and businesses are located along the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue. This is a neighbourhood where people like to gather and socialize.
